1. Overview

Pro English Publishing provides English language courses for accounting, auditing, and taxation professionals through the Thinkific platform. This Privacy Policy explains what data is collected when you use our website (proenglishpublishing.com) and courses, and who is responsible for it.

Pro English Publishing does not directly collect, store, or process your account credentials, or payment information. This data is held and managed by our platform provider, Thinkific Labs Inc.

The controller of the personal data described here is Pro English Publishing, established in the United States. No general federal privacy law in the United States reaches a site of this size, but we publish in 21 languages and many of our readers are in Europe, so we apply the standard set by the EU General Data Protection Regulation to everyone rather than varying our behaviour by country. Readers elsewhere may have equivalent rights under their own national law.

2. Course Platform — Thinkific

Our courses are hosted by Thinkific Labs Inc. (Canada). When you create an account or enrol in a course, the following data is collected and stored by Thinkific:

Your name and email address
Your username and password
Course enrolment and progress
Completion records and certificates

Pro English Publishing has limited visibility into this data through the Thinkific administration interface for purposes such as managing enrolments and issuing certificates, but we do not hold this data independently.

3. Payments

Payments are processed by Thinkific's payment provider. Pro English Publishing does not process, store, or have access to your payment information at any point. For any payment-related data questions, please refer to:

4. Analytics and session recording

Neither of the tools below runs until you allow it. On your first visit you are asked, and nothing non-essential is loaded unless you accept. You can change that decision at any time using the "Cookie preferences" control in the footer of any page, and withdrawing is as easy as granting was.

Google Analytics (Google LLC) — tells us how many people visit, from which countries, and which pages they read. It sets a cookie that distinguishes one browser from another, so while we never see your name or email through it, this is not fully anonymous data. Processed on Google servers in the United States.
Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation) — records how you scroll and where you click, and builds heatmaps and playbacks we use to find usability problems. We ask for this separately from analytics because it is a more intrusive purpose. If you refuse it, nothing is recorded. Processed on Microsoft servers in the United States.

Both rely on your consent as their lawful basis, and you may withdraw it at any time without giving a reason and without any effect on your access to this site.

5. Cookies

Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. Some are essential for the site to work; others are the analytics and session recording described above. On this site no non-essential cookie is set before you allow it.

Our Cookie Policy lists every cookie individually, with its provider, purpose and duration.

6. Contact Form

If you contact us via the form on proenglishpublishing.com, we receive your message and any personal details you include, such as your name and email. This information is used solely to respond to your enquiry and is not shared with third parties. This is the only personal data Pro English Publishing holds directly.

7. Children

Our courses are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 16.

8. How long data is kept

Contact form messages: up to 24 months after our last exchange, unless the enquiry becomes a commercial relationship, in which case the applicable accounting and tax retention periods take over.
Analytics and session recording: according to each provider's own retention settings, and in any case only until you withdraw consent.
Your cookie choice: 6 months, after which we ask again.
Course account and progress data: held by Thinkific under their retention policy, not by us.

9. Your rights

You have the following rights over the personal data we hold:

Access — to know what data we hold about you and how we use it.
Rectification — to correct data that is wrong or incomplete.
Erasure — to have your data deleted where that applies.
Restriction — to have processing limited while a question is resolved.
Objection — to object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
Portability — to receive your data in a structured, commonly used format.
Withdrawal of consent — for analytics and session recording, at any time.

To exercise any of them, write to us using the address in section 11. This is free of charge and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with our response, readers in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom may complain to their local data protection supervisory authority. Readers elsewhere may have an equivalent authority under their own national law.

Because your course account, progress and payment data are held by Thinkific rather than by us, requests about that data should go to Thinkific directly — see section 2.

10. International transfers

We are established in the United States. Google and Microsoft process analytics data on servers there, Thinkific is in Canada, and Cloudflare serves this site from a global network. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, that means your data is transferred outside your own jurisdiction. Those transfers rely on the safeguards those providers offer, including the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, the UK extension to it, Canada's adequacy decision, and standard contractual clauses where applicable.

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available at proenglishpublishing.com.
